My life is currently in a state of upheaval and recovery:

  • Quit my job due to personal issues (thanks Mediabolic, it was fun!)
  • Finished a whirlwind rehearsal week for KT's performance at Mr Smiths. (Flickr pics to come)
  • Came back from a hectic and dramatic trip in Boston / NYC (thanks Will, Andinh, Helene, Scott, Liz for coming out)
I always feel a bit overwhelmed with a rapid succession of exciting events, but let me tell you, leaving California certainly helped. Frankly, even leaving SF every once in a while is certainly nice. Every so often I get a case of "San Francisco fatigue" and it's often cured by a good geographic upheaval. I usually like to cure it with a dose of Berkeley or Sacramento. More extreme cases require a good dose of NYC or Chicacgo. Leaving the whole country would be nice as well ... any suggestions?

While thinking about why this may be, neuroscience came up in the though process as it sometimes does. Perhaps I'm getting some kind of "neural fatigue" from being in the same place and around the same people. Maybe it can be attributed to a desire to get some kind of new stimulus by exciting some often dormant neurons.

So I'm going to the east coast for various reasons and while planning my trip I ran into this gem on BoingBoing:

Hi! My name is Huong, and I live in New York in a tiny apartment barely big enough to live in, far too small to make art. So... I'm creating an 8'x8'x8' inflatable studio that suits two, and I am looking for a public, indoor space in which to inflate it, and someone else to come work in it with me

I thought, hmmm I'm going there in less than 24 hours ... think she'll be free? Haha, she was! So if you're in NY and near Washington Square Park come on by (between Noon and 5pm I think).

If her name sounds familiar you might remember her from the LED throwies project that was shown on Boing Boing and at the O'Reilly Maker Faire.

Most of you probably know that I've been involved in theater since UC Berkeley and Theatre Rice . Attempting to stay involved after college ended proved to be somewhat difficult due to working full time and such. However, Duy Nguyen, one of the founders of Theatre Rice got together a few of us and decided to give us some stage time to get back into things. We had several shows last year, and after a short hiatus, we're back!
